In October, former University of Colorado quarterback Darian Hagan learned that he would be inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 2014 class. The induction ceremony is April 17.

To celebrate, Pasta Jay’s is holding a reception in Hagan’s honor on Sunday at 3 p.m. CU fans are welcome to stop by at 1001 Pearl Street to congratulate Hagan and enjoy passable appetizers and pizza, “Pasta Jay” Elowsky said Thursday.

Fellow CU greats such as Alfred Williams, Mike Pritchard and Deon Figures are expected to attend.

Hagan came to Colorado in 1988. He quarterbacked the Buffs to their only national championship in 1990.

Hagan went 28-5-2 as a starter for the Buffs, including 20-0-1 in Big Eight Conference play. He finished his career with 3,801 passing yards and 2,007 rushing yards.

Hagan still serves as the Buffs’ Director of Player Development.

Hagan will go into the Hall of Fame with former CU basketball coach Forrest “Frosty” Cox, former Denver Broncos running back Otis Armstrong, former Colorado Rockies slugger Todd Helton, former Colorado College football and hockey great Andy Gambucci and former Denver Post columnist Dorothy Mauk.

The class will be honored at the 50th annual induction banquet at the Denver Marriott City Center.

Pasta Jay’s gives Boulder something to wine about

wineinvite

Pasta Jay’s, Boulder’s most beloved Italian restaurant, is hosting a party April 10 to unveil an exciting new collection of higher-end, but highly affordable wines.

The new offerings, which range from Genesis Merlot, a rich and creamy blend of dark cherry, maple, cocoa, to Umberto Cesari Sangiovese Riserva, an Italian import that provides a bouquet of mountain flowers and fruitiness, are sure to enhance your dining experience.

The extensive list of 30-plus red and whites will be sold by the glass and bottle. These tantalizing new offerings were personally selected by Pasta Jay to blend with our zesty Italian cuisine.

“Everyone already loves our food,” Pasta Jay said. “It’s my hope that our Boulder friends will embrace the new concept and make Pasta Jay’s the place to truly savor the best and most affordable wines on the planet.”

Pasta Jay will update the wine list often. But everyone can enjoy the first taste of our upscale  wine list starting April 10 from 5 to 5 pm.

World Pasta Day — October 25th

pasta

Finally, a holiday that everyone can get behind!  Tomorrow is World Pasta Day.  Pasta, in one form or another, is eaten on every continent, and somewhere, right now, all over the world someone is enjoying pasta on their fork or chopsticks or fingers, or whatever.

Stop by Pasta Jays Boulder, Lone Tree or Moab, to celebrate this important holiday with your friends and family.  Start a new tradition!

The question about who invented pasta first seems likely to have been settled, thanks to a pot of 4,000-year-old noodles discovered on the Yellow River two years ago.
