Pasta Jay’s provided food for the Sleep Out For Homeless Youth event on November 15, 2012, when Boulder’s Attention Homes joined more than 40 community and business leaders to raise awareness of and build support for youth who are homeless. Sleep Out participants spent the night sleeping outside on the lawn between Attention Homes’ administrative office and the First United Methodist Church of Boulder, near 15th & Spruce in downtown Boulder.
By taking part in this event, participants glimpsed what life is like as a homeless youth by exposing themselves to weather elements and uncertainties that come from living on the streets. Unlike Attention Homes’ youth clients, however, event participants had the benefit of knowing the next morning they can return to safe and warm homes, their jobs and their families.
Participants were asked to each pledge to raise $1,000 from friends, family and colleagues through their own online fundraising page to support Attention Homes’ homeless and runaway youth services. The Sleep Out for Homeless Youth event has raised more than $45,000 for Attention Homes’ programming.
For information on how you can get involved and offer support, visit their website at www.attentionhomes.org/sleepout.

Pasta Jay’s Lone Tree hosted Celebrity Bartender Night Friday night. Over 15 retired NFL, AFL, MLB and Boxing Champions took over the restaurant and worked for tips, with all money raised going to benefit the Military Family Relief Fund.
Thanks to Shawna Mckeown for her great photos.
The Military Family Relief Fund assists Colorado military families impacted by mobilization, including National Guard members and reservists deployed as a result of mobilizations since 9/11. It also provides financial assistance for active duty military members deployed to hostile fire zones. Not only does the fund make up loss in salary, but families may also qualify for help defraying increased expenses for food, housing, utilities, medical service, and other expenses incurred when a family member leaves civilian employment.
